ribbon cable repair

Twin-lead:
Flexible flat cable
Signal cables:

Ribbon cable ar very pain to repair as they need too abundant exhausting work and very sensibleconcentration to repair as they ar delicate ... that why i use to break them when doing some electronic project.

Recently i broke ribbon cable of my apple fictional animal and that i searched all Ebay for thatcomponent but no luck i could not find one part , especially in india it's too difficult to get all these stuff.

But you see necessity is that the mother of all invention , i did't invent this process but luckily i did repaired my ribbon cable.

Procedure Goes here:

To repair ribbon cable, expose the ends of the ribbon wires. Fine sandpaper (say 600 grade) usually achieves this can be , but personally i used a fine razor blade.

"You solely would like to abrade concerning 1-2mm of the insulation for this and solely on ONE facetof the ribbon. Check with a continuity checker and a couple of sharp pins that you really have access to the wire.

"Use a piece of flexible adhesive tape Stick this on the back of the broken cable (i.e the facet you did not abrade), aligning the broken pieces as closely as possible.

"Next you take another two pieces of tape and you put them over the TOP of the ribbon cable so they wrap round to the tape underneath, but leaving a small gap at the point where the exposed wires are.

"Finally we are ready to bridge the broken cables. This is done with conductive epoxy resin. Silver-loaded resin can be purchased from specialist electronic stores. It is not cheap but cheaper than a new gadget, for sure, or more easier u can use fine point conductive pen and overcoat pen you can buy them from SUMITRON

Solve connection errors on hard drives, optical drives and other devices that use flat ribbon cables to communicate. Repair a flat ribbon cable and improve performance by eliminating the number of retries that the system performs every time a data error occurs. Create a custom ribbon cable for immediate use with a few simple tools and inexpensive parts that can be kept on hand for use at times when buying a ribbon cable is inconvenient or the particular cable is no longer available.

Cut the ribbon cable about 1/2-inch from the end that needs repair, making sure that the cut is clean and perpendicular to the cable.

Align the connector with the cable so that the conductor marked with a colored strip on the ribbon cable is attached to pin 1 on the connector.

Crimp the connector onto the cable firmly and with even pressure. Inspect the connection for proper alignment and seating.

Replace badly twisted or worn ribbon cable with new cable and crimp new ends where needed.
